In honor of Fashion Week - My Top 5 Favorite Films About Fashion:
5. The Devil Wears Prada
I'm not a huge fan of this movie, but with over a million dollars worth of costume design and Meryl Streep, it's kind of a no-brainer.

4. Funny Face
It's Audrey. It's fashion. You don't need anything else.

3. Blow-Up
Michelangelo Antonioni's film about a fashion photographer's accidental involvement in murder is scored by Herbie Hancock and contains one of cinema's sexiest scenes in history. But, I'd love this just for Herbie.
2. The September Issue
One of my favorite docs of all time. It's a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at Vogue that inadvertently focuses on Grace Coddington...one of my favorite people ever.
1. Prêt-à-Porter
This film has satire, Sophia Loren AND Lauren Bacall (her character's name is Slim, btw - awesome), fashion and about 300 cameos. And, it's freaking hilarious.
What is your single favorite costume in movie history? Not film, but the actual costume/dress itself.
ReplyDeleteCliché as it is - Audrey's black dress, tiara and sunglasses in the opening of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Everything she wears in that movie is so glamorous, yet there's always something casual about it. I love it.
